Logan H. Babin, Sr. – Founder
1911-1993
Logan moved to Houma during the Depression to take a job with the Texas Company (now Texaco). In 1962, he started a real estate development company to capitalize on the growth in South Louisiana. His vision and entrepreneurial spirit spurred an economic boom in Houma for 3 decades and provided much needed real estate opportunities for numerous oilfield service companies to begin their growth. His son, Logan H. Babin, Jr., and his grandson, Logan H. Babin, III, have both returned to South Louisiana to work in real estate. Now, over 60 years later, his legacy continues through The Logan Babin Commercial Group of KW Commercial South.
From the framed articles of his achievements in the lobby, to his favorite hat sitting on the conference room shelves, to the smell of his tobacco from his pipe cabinet which is still in his original office, to his old cigar boxes in the supply room, Logan Sr.’s presence is still felt all around the office building he purchased in the 60’s.
In a symbolic connection linking the past with the present, the very first sale of land in the industrial park that was Logan Sr’s vision is home to Gulf Island Fabrication. Keller Williams Co-Founder Joe Williams married Louisiana native, Janine Laborde, who’s family founded Gulf Island Fab.
